Here's what Brianne, a Global Learning ambassador, has to say about her experience:
I spent my semester abroad in Cairns, Queensland, Australia on the SIT: Rainforest, Reef, and Cultural Ecology program. I learned about the conservation, ecology, and culture of the Far North Queensland region and its people with a focus on the tropical rainforests and coral reefs for which Australia is famous. As it was a field-based program, I had countless unbelievable outdoor experiences and wildlife encounters and was even lucky enough to spend 10 days living on Lizard Island where we snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef every day. This program was unique in that it also had an independent study project, so for that I was able to spend 5 weeks doing research on wallaby reproduction at the University of Melbourne. I couldn't recommend this program more, and would love to answer questions about it or just studying abroad in Australia in general!
